Our final stop in the Loire Valley - Chambord

Chambord was the biggest of the 3 we visited. It is part of France's national heritage and is unique in Europe. It has been designated a world heritage site by Unesco. Chambord is home to da Vinci's double helix staircase. Lee went in one side, Maddie and I on the other. As we ascended the stairs at certain point we could see each other through the windows at the same level. Hard to explain and even stranger to be in. It has never been officially associated with da Vinci but there are drawings of the exact staircase.

The grounds of Chambord are the size of all of Paris. A massive fence goes all the way around for hunting. Much like Versailles, Chambord was a hunting château. Chambord was gifted to many people and it was said to be extremely bad luck to have it because it was so expensive to maintain.

Here are some shots to this incredible château.
