Christmas Eve was a fun evening of great food, great conversation, board games and of course presents.

Playing around with a beautiful lens I rented from Beau Photo

I rented a Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II USM lens from Beau Photo and enjoyed a weekend out shooting. These shots were taken at White Rock Beach.

The next day I was at Crescent Beach working on the sunset. The lens was a lot of fun to use. Makes me want to get one... someday.

Playing with my new camera... downtown Vancouver

I spent some time in Vancouver before Christmas taking some shots with my new camera. The beach shot is from Lecarno where a memorial bench was set up for a young woman. The other shots are the front of St Andrews Wesley Church (where we got married back in 1999). Love this place.

Crescent Beach in November

A few weeks ago, between storms, I headed out to Crescent Beach to take some pictures. The sky was amazing.

Back to my love of photography...

Well, it's been awhile since I last posted some pictures. I let my busy life get in the way of something that fills my heart with great joy.

Here are some pictures of my recent walk down Main Street.

Saturday was another beautiful day in San Francisco. Our day started with a nice ride into the city on the train. $14 for the day, better than trying to find to find and pay for parking. 

We enjoyed our lunch at Fisherman's Wharf. The first picture is from my seat. I was enjoying a Mango Margarita, chips & salsa an amazing grilled steak taco. 

Our next big adventure was Alcatraz. Wow! What an amazing trip. First you take a ferry over to The Rock. When we first arrived at The Rock we joined a tour that told us all about the escape attempts on the island, then we moved on to the audio tour of the cell house. I'll write some descriptions of what we saw on the pictures below.

The entrance to the Officer's Apartment building. Because of the cost of running the prison the officers and their families lived on The Rock.

This side of the island is very windy, even the birds stayed in one spot while they were flying.

This is a typical cell at Alcatraz. The room was 5 feet wide, 9 feet deep and 7 feet high. There was a sink, toilet, folding table & chair and a cot to sleep on.

The cells were stacked 3 high. This is looking down Broadway. The clock at the end says Times Square.

The next few pictures are from the Command Centre. Everything was set up as it would have been during the Riot.

The Dinning Hall

The Kitchen. This room was in the Dinning Hall but separated by bars. They outlined all of the knives so they would know if one went missing. The food they ate was always well presented and very fattening to keep them from trying to escape.
